Painting Holiday, Mullion Cove Hotel

It will soon be time to pack my brushes, paints, paper and easel for a glorious week of teaching watercolour painting in Cornwall.  The Mullion Cove Hotel is a superb venue for the painting holiday with its purpose built studio and a wide range of amazing locations to paint just a short distance away, what could be better?

There are a few places still available - why not treat yourself and join me?

Meeting David Norman - watercolour artist

Had a fabulous day, whilst in Totnes I paid a visit to Birdwood House gallery and discovered David Norman, a wonderful watercolour artist exhibiting.  I just love his work!  It was great to meet him, and, would you believe it he gave me a small original painting - yes, gave it to me!  It is small and beautiful!  Thank you so much David, not only are you a fantastic artist but a wonderful person as well.

As for my own painting, I will post an image soon.
Will be getting those brushes out today - have plans to create a loose painting of Exeter Cathedral!

Had a great time teaching the class this afternoon, the paintings created by all the artists in the class were amazing!  Well done everyone.  Thank you to Chris for letting us use her fabulous photo of an old door.  Use of cling film, inspiration owed to Jean Haines, thank you Jean.  Salt used as well to add texture.

It's a beautiful morning and I'm really excited as the new term of 6 weeks of painting classes starts today!  Newton Abbot class starts at 1pm at the Burdett Building, Wolborough Street, Newton Abbot, see you there.

We will be painting buildings, well, an old door using several techniques such as applying cling film and sprinkling salt into wet paint to see what amazing things happen.
